i have decided that in life there is nothing that cannot be cured by uppie-doos and new sunglasses. (got the hair covered and new $10 sunglasses are on the list for this afternoon). it's been a week full of red letter days. birth, death, cody leaving alaska and my brother returning from iraq. not bad for a girl who doesn't like new things or change. there have been moments of stage 5 freak out and there have been moments of clarity. overall i'm taking a very philosophical view this morning...
i have faith that everything given to me has purpose and function. the world moves forward without my consent. it's difficult at these points to move away from yourself (the royal yourself) and objectively view the facts. old parts of my life have passed... that is a tragedy but they are things i no longer was using and i don't need to revisit the wounds that were caught up in those times. (thanks cody for that insight). there are people in my life that have new life that doesn't include me and that too is a positive thing. i no longer need to justify or insist on who i am. i have the freedom and the ability to move forward into the future without the ties, judgments or expectations of the past. my brother has returned from iraq and that gives me great joy and relief just to know that he is safe. there were times during his journey that i worried simply because there was nothing else i could do for him or about the situation. lastly cody left alaska this morning and it hurt my heart.
there are things in life that we cannot change and we cannot add an addendum to and we cannot edit. those are the things that require faith, patience and love. i'm lucky to have the opportunity to practice those things in the security of a small island and in the shadow of a summer filled with red letter days.
